Local listening data
Favorites, listening progress, queue state, downloaded files, and artwork cache are stored on your device so Podcat can work quickly and restore your listening session.
Optional account sync
Signing in with Google is optional. If you enable favorite sync, Podcat stores your favorite podcast metadata in Firebase Cloud Firestore under your account so it can be restored on another device. You can turn sync off from Account.
Network requests
Podcat contacts podcast catalogs and the RSS feeds, artwork hosts, and media hosts selected by podcast publishers. These providers may receive standard connection information such as your IP address and user agent under their own policies.
Analytics and diagnostics
Podcat uses Firebase services to help operate the app, including authentication, optional sync, and diagnostics. These services may process technical and usage information as described in Google Firebase's documentation and policies.
Protection
Network traffic uses HTTPS where the remote provider supports it. The app avoids putting catalog credentials in the Android package. The Podcat catalog gateway keeps provider secrets in Cloudflare Worker secrets rather than distributing them to devices.
Deletion and questions
You can remove local app data through Android settings or uninstall the app. To request deletion of synced favorites or ask a privacy question, email hello@getpodcat.com from the account concerned.
